Olwin Joyful Kids Foundation (OJKF) is a non-governmental organization. OJKF was born out of a sincere need to turn a hospitalized child’s pain, fear, and stress into laughter, fun, and joy.

Olwin Joyful Kids Foundation (OJKF) is registered at the corporate affairs commission with license number CAC/IT/NO 127931 in Abuja, Nigeria. Our ongoing programs are evidence on our Instagram media page @olwinkidsfoundation.

Every day, a child is hospitalized with a life-threatening medical condition or just a basic illness. These children are often scared, confused, and facing severe medical treatment. Our sole existence is to help facilitate and hasten hospitalized children’s recovery process through psychosocial support programs.

According to Lena Karlsson, Director, Child Protection Initiative at saving the children foundation, “Psychosocial refers to the child’s inner world and relationship with their environment. Psychosocial support helps maintain a continuum of family and community-based care and support during and after an emergency and prevents immediate or long-term mental health disorders”.

Children exposed to constant fear, uncertainty, and severe emotional stress often result in lifelong mental health and psychosocial issues if untreated

Millions of children around the world suffer from lifelong sickness and unimaginable pain, and psychosocial issues. Furthermore, many of these children lack primary care due to Nigerians dilapidating medical facilities and access to adequate mental health and psychosocial support.
Failure to address mental health and psychosocial issues at any stage of a child’s life stalls mental growth and often affects the child’s ability to participate meaningfully in society.
At Olwin foundation, we use Play therapy as a form of psychotherapy. We use play to help children deal with emotional and mental health issues. By using play as the medium, children can forget their sickness, thus fast-tracking the healing process.

We have visited countless sick kids at a different hospital and provided various types of toys and play aid Such as include toys (for instance, a dollhouse with dolls depicting parents,
grandparents and children, stuffed animals, puppets, or other toys) and art and craft material (paper, pens, colors, paints, and other stationery) through which the child can express themselves.
Since its inception, OJKF has provided care to over 1000 children in hospitals, foster homes, Advocacy / Sensitization on mental healing, Home/Community-Based counseling, and Christmas party for foster and sick children. OJKF is affiliated with both international and local partners such as the Nigerian Ministry of Health, Nigerian Midwives and nurse association, Nigerian woman affairs commission, Nigerian Network of Non-Governmental Organization [NNNGO], World Association of Non-Governmental organization [WANGO], Family Health
International [FHI Nigeria]/USAID Save the Children Nigeria.

It’s imperative to join hands and save God’s precious gifts to humankind. Children are the leaders of tomorrow, so, therefore, it’s our collective duty to protect their mental state by providing stress-relive measures such as regular playtime and psychosocial programs. Kindly join hands with us @olwinkidsfoundation in our bid to save tomorrow.
